Fortune Lantern is built so that it simply doesn't need to collect your personal data to work. This page explains exactly what happens to the information you type in.

What you enter

To generate a reading, a compatibility result, or a wish, you may enter a name, birth date, birth time, gender, birthplace, and a short wish. All of these fields are optional except birth date, and none of them are required to just browse the site.

Where it goes: nowhere

Every calculation on this site — your Four Pillars, your Ten Gods, your compatibility reading, your lucky talisman — runs entirely in your own browser, using JavaScript that ships with the page. Nothing you type is sent to a server, because Fortune Lantern doesn't have one to send it to. Close the tab or refresh the page, and everything you entered is gone. We never see it, store it, or share it, because it's technically never in our possession in the first place.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses Google Analytics to understand overall traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects general information like your approximate location, device type, and browser — it does not receive anything you type into the reading, compatibility, or wish forms, since those never leave your browser in the first place. You can opt out using a browser extension like Google's "Analytics Opt-out," or by using your browser's tracking-protection or private-browsing settings.

Advertising

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendor cookies altogether at www.aboutads.info.

Offerings (PayPal)

If you choose to leave a voluntary offering, the "Send via PayPal" buttons open PayPal.com in a new tab. That transaction happens entirely on PayPal's site, under PayPal's own privacy policy — Fortune Lantern never receives, sees, or stores your card, bank, or PayPal account details.

Your downloads

Your reading (via your browser's print/save-as-PDF function) and your lucky talisman (a PNG image) are generated and saved directly to your own device. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

Children

Fortune Lantern is intended for visitors aged 13 and older, in keeping with the entertainment nature of the site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
